Jessica Love | DIRECTOR – Jessica (she/her) is excited to be back at Red Theater after Assistant Directing their production of Kairos. Chicago Directing credits: Twisted Playfest’s Fiona (Redtwist Theatre), The Chain (GenderF’ed Productions), and When It Comes We Can Worry Then (Three Brothers Theatre). Zach Barr | PLAYWRIGHT – Zach (they/them) is a nonbinary multidisciplinary theatre artist. Their play Quinlyn Can Paint recently debuted at Black Cat Theatre, and their adaptation of Winnie-the-Pooh will debut at Talespinner Children’s Theatre in December. They’ve completed residencies with Three Brothers Theatre and Filament Theatre, and have had work developed by Valdez Theatre Conference, Bramble Theatre Company, and Fat Theatre Project. Zach serves as Literary Manager at Red Theater and an Artistic Associate at Refracted Theatre Company, curating new play reading series for both (Script Club and Role Call). Additionally, Zach is the creator of the theatre history video essay series And Now They Sing on YouTube, and recently directed Cats for Studio East (Kirkland, WA). Find them on NPX. Morgan Kingsley | ASSISTANT DIRECTOR – Morgan (she/her) is making her assistant directorial debut! A recent graduate of Ithaca College's BATS program, she has been a part of Mudlark Theater’s teaching artist cohort since 2023. Directing credits include: Pandora’s Box, Six Pointed Starlight (AD), Treasure Island (AD), Little Mess America (AD). Dramaturgy credits include: Sweat and Wheels for Women (Ithaca College). Ella Johnson | STAGE MANAGER – Ella (she/they) is so excited to be back with Red Theatre. Recent credits include DOGS (Stage Manager), Problem Play (Stage Manager), StarQuest Dance Competition (Event Director), and Chicago the Musical National Tour across the U.S. and South Korea (Production Stage Manager). Ella is endlessly grateful to be surrounded by such bold, generous, and wildly talented humans. Manuel Ortiz | SCENIC DESIGN – Manuel (he/him) is thrilled to return to Red Theater! As a Chicago native he received his BFA in acting from DePauls Theater School, but soon was drawn into the world of production and fabrication. Manuel is currently one of the Co-Artistic directors for Strawdog Theater Co. and founding member of Manolos Werkshop, which provides affordable build space for non profits and fabricators alike. His previous scenic design credits include Kairos (Red Theater), Diana-The Musical (Theo Ubique), Second City Up Theater (Second City), Herschel and the Hanukkah Goblins (Strawdog) and The tragedy of Macbeth (Invictus Theater)
Jack Goodman | LIGHTING DESIGN – Jack (he/him) is a Chicago based Lighting Designer. Sebby Woldt | SOUND DESIGN – Sebby (they/them) is ecstatic to be working with Red theatre again. Previous Credits with Red include: Vinegar Tom, Indoor Cats, Hamlet, Caveman play and DOGS. Outside of red they have worked on over one-hundred productions in the Chicagoland area including most recently with the Factory Theater on The Curious Case of Louis LePrince and Lane Call, and The Conspirators on Chicago Cop Macbeth. Haleigh Kent | COSTUME DESIGN – Haleigh (they/she) is a Chicago based theater artist and educator. Their costume design prioritizes thrifted and handcrafted pieces. Previous Red credits include Kairos, Caveman Play, Indoor Cats, and Vinegar Tom. Haleigh is currently working toward a Masters degree in Social Work at the Erikson Institute and certification as a Drama Therapist.
Chas Mathieu | PROPS DESIGN – Chas (he/him) Is delighted to be working with Red Theater again. Last year he had the pleasure of designing the props for DOGS. Chas is a scenic designer who’s designed sets for The Artistic Home, The Gift Theatre, Babes with Blades, and Stage (Houston). Some personal favorite credits include: The Pavilion (Artistic Home) and You Are Cordially Invited to Sit-In (Stages - Houston). Chas is also the scenic supervisor at Chicago Children’s Theatre, a position he’s held since 2020. In his free time, he enjoys exploring the city and painting architectural watercolor portraits. Jamie Macpherson | INTIMACY DESIGN & FAMILY LIAISON – Jamie (she/her) is a Chicago-based intimacy/fight director, and is thrilled to be back at Red Theater! Past Red credits include: Kairos, Hamlet, Indoor Cats and VInegar Tom. Other Chicago credits: The Bookworms (Kerfuffle Theater for the Very Young); Sweet Charity, the Mad Ones (Blank Theatre); and As You Like It, Treasure Island (Mudlark Theater). She has been an invited artist at Macalester College, Augsburg College, the Lawrence Art Center, and the University of Chicago. Her work has been published in Youth Theater Journal, Howlround, and The Fight Master. Daniel Bird Tobin | DRAMATURG – Daniel (he/him) is a director, performer, dramaturg, science communicator, and theatre archaeologist. His work focuses on how to build compelling, emotionally-rich performances out of personal artifacts and scientific research. Through partnerships with scientists, he creates pieces that capture, communicate, and think creatively about cutting-edge discoveries. Currently he is an Assistant Professor of Applied Theatre at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and a company member at the Clarence Brown Theatre. www.danielbirdtobin.com
Skyler Simpson | POSTER ARTIST – Skyler (she/her) is a visual artist based in Chicago, IL. She received an MFA from the University of Wisconsin - Madison in 2024. After receiving her BFA from the University of Nebraska - Lincoln in 2018, she worked as a painting intern at Anderson Ranch Arts Center during the summer of 2019. Faith Decker | PHOTOGRAPHER – Faith (she/her) is a Chicago photographer and actress, originally from sunny Arizona. Favorite credits include Elodie (Black Box Films), Empty Words: A Crime and Punishment Adaptation (Aside Theatre Company), and Veratrum Album (Valley Wide Films). AJ Mueth | TECHNICAL DIRECTOR – AJ (he/him) AJ is a Chicago based freelance Technical Director who recently graduated with his BFA from West Virginia University. Select Technical Direction credits include Into the Woods, Cinderella, and Anatomy... at West Virginia University as well as Fun Home and August: Osage County at Clinton County Showcase. In addition to Technical Direction, AJ has worked for Hudson Scenic Studios assisting in the construction and automation of Maybe Happy Ending on Broadway and building select productions with Disney. AJ also worked for The Muny in St. Louis, MO doing automation and scenic construction. This is AJ's first production with Red Theater and is thankful for the support of his family and friends.
Hunter Cole | DIRECTOR OF PRODUCTION – Hunter (they/them) is a Chicago based scenic designer and theatermaker living in Austin with their wife. They’re ecstatic to be a part of the Red Production team, and are so proud of the incredible artists who make this art real. Becca Holloway | CASTING DIRECTOR – Becca (she/her) is a Chicago-based director, casting director and producer. A huge supporter of new work, she is the curator of the monthly Readings at Red series to help support and develop new plays written by Chicago local playwrights. Mary Townsend Cahoon | COMPANY MANAGER – Mary (she/her) stepped into the role of Red’s Company Manager in July 2023 after stage managing their 22/23 season. She is a transplant from Arizona, where she previously worked as a designer, technician, and actor at theaters including: Flagstaff Shakespeare Festival, Southwest Shakespeare Company, Ms. Conceived Shakespeare, Stray Cat Theatre, The Phoenix Theatre Company, BLK BOX PHX, Space 55, Mesa Encore Theatre, Theater League, and Broadway Guild of America. Mary also spent a summer studying at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre in London, under the direction of Joanne Howarth. Recent Chicago credits include Steppenwolf Theatre Company (Another Marriage; POTUS) and The Plagiarists (Arabia, Arabia; When You Awake…). @mary.katherine.tc
Wyatt Kent | CO-ARTISTIC DIRECTOR – Wyatt (he/him) was a member of the inaugural Red ensemble in Lincoln, Nebraska before stepping into leadership in March of 2020. For Red, he directed Hamlet, as well as the world premiere of Mora V. Harris’ Indoor Cats (Jeff Award: New Work and Supporting Performer - Play), Directing credits include The Rocky Horror Picture Show (Metropolis Performing Arts), The Mad Ones (Blank Theatre), immersive and devised work (The Wild Party, Out of Many, De/Ascending), Shakespeare adaptations (Romeo and Juliet et al., Macbeth, Julius Caesar) and new play development.
Clare Brennan | CO-ARTISTIC DIRECTOR – Clare (she/her) has led Red Theater since July 2019. Directing credits include Caryl Churchill’s Vinegar Tom and the Chicago premiere of Savannah Reich’s Caveman Play for Red Theater; Agnes of God (Jeff Recommended; Redtwist Theatre) Anthony Neilson’s Stitching (BlackLight Theatre; Dublin, Ireland), Home of Love (Wall to Wall Theatre Festival; Ann Arbor, MI), and Othello (The University of Michigan). Other credits include sound designer for The Mad Ones (Blank Theatre), producer for Bicycle Thieves (Littlebrain Theatre/RhinoFest), and curator of many an apartment show. Elsewhere in Chicago, she has worked with Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, TimeLine Theatre, Shattered Globe, Links Hall, The Den, Prop Thtr, Theatre Evolve, and NON:op.
